CLARITY – 1-17-18 Rumors of War

A Biblical Response to Current Events – 1-17-18

Rumors of War

What’s Happening:  “First, it was Hawaii – 38 minutes of panic occurred when a false warning of a missile launch from North Korea was emblazoned on phones statewide: yesterday it happened nationwide in Japan…the TV station responsible for the deception has apologized (’Around 6.55pm earlier we reported on the NHK’s news site and NHK’s news disaster prevention application “Pattern of North Korean missile launch” but this was incorrectly issued. J alert has not appeared. I must sincerely apologise.’”

Knee-jerk Response: “Now, nobody will respond…it’s a case of crying ‘wolf’ too many times.”

Biblical Response:  “You might be right…not that there’s much that many folks could do, anyway. One thing’s certain, the real thing will be worse. Is a thermonuclear missile survivable? Probably…the real question is ‘do you want to?’ What kind of world will be left? Do you want your children to live in fear of such a thing happening? These, and other questions, should have be asked decades ago…before North Korea had an opportunity to develop the threat.

“Christians? Although our eternity is secure (2 Tim. 1:12), our temporality is not. The law of sowing and reaping (Gal. 6:7) guarantees that regret has a multiplied component. We have sown the wind…now we get to reap the whirlwind. Is there still time? Maybe.”

Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray:  “Heavenly Father, help us not to let fear rule the day…but to be wise purveyors of the truth. Give our leaders the wisdom to guide us through these tumultuous times;: in Jesus’ Name, amen.”   © Alan E.Sargent
