CLARITY – 10-4-19 The Art of Guessing

A Biblical Response to Current Events – 10-4-19

The Art of Guessing

What’s Happening: “Paleontologists revealed Thursday that they just unearthed what is likely the most complete remains of Ferrodraco lentoni or ‘iron dragon’ in Queensland, Australia. Still, it only represented about 10% of its skeleton and is a rare find of an even more rare species (pterosaurs) that lived worldwide during the mid-Cretaceous period, about 96 Million years ago. According to paleontologists, all dinosaurs may have become extinct when an asteroid hit the earth about 66 million years ago. They think the ‘iron dragon’ was a flying (13-foot wingspan) fish hunter, at least says PhD. candidate Adele Pentland of the Swinburne Univ. of Technology ( ‘The ‘iron dragon’ seemed fitting, given that this animal would have been one of the top predators of the skies during the Cretaceous. Moreover, without the preservation of the bones in ironstone, it’s unlikely that we would have recovered this fossil material in the first place,’ she said.”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “It’s great that we now know so much about them.”

Biblical Response:  “Do we? I mean, Adele wasn’t alive 96 million years ago…she and the artists who have rendered the dinosaurs are only making reasoning guesses…and most of the paleontologists are basing their findings on the errant presupposition of evolution (we’ve known since Gregor Mendell – 1865 – the ‘Father of Genetics’ -that only managed breeding results in an upward trend of subsequent generations of any species, not random chance or any so-called intra-special force of Darwin’s ‘survival of the fittest’). Since I wasn’t there, either, their guess is as good as mine. Biblically, I see no problem with the Genesis account Gen. 1-5). There is nothing that precludes the existence of a pre-Adamic world..”

“Christians? Most Christians have thought little about this, but scientific claims leave more technologically thinking Christians with a lot of unanswered questions. A good website is (ttps://“

Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray:  “Heavenly Father, help us to be thinking Christians who don’t ignore a topic because it might be difficult or have ramifications we don’t understand; in Jesus’ Name, amen.”
