CLARITY – 10-9-19 Rule All You Want

A Biblical Response to Current Events – 10-9-19

Rule All You Want

What’s Happening: “The Supreme Court heard three cases of alleged gender discrimination Tuesday, although the decision may come at a much later date. The cases involved two gay men and a transgender woman. 21 states already have laws giving the LGBT community protected status. At stake are transgender bathroom facilities, the make up of contestants in competitive sports, and other Title VII aspects of the 1964 Civil Rights Act ( In a ruling from the Sixth Circuit, the court found that Title VII included transgender anti-discrimination, stating, ‘It is analytically impossible to fire an employee based on that employee’s status as a transgender person without being motivated, at least in part, by the employee’s sex.’”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “Maybe the Supreme Court should stay out of cases that go below the waist.”

Biblical Response:  “Maybe they should. Of course, they can rule all they want, but it won’t change heaven’s immutable ruling (Lev. 18:22; 20:13; 1 Cor. 6:9; etc.)…and the last time I checked, the Creator has the final say over His creation…agree with Him or not. The real issue is whether you believe in a ‘living Constitution’ (subject to a changing culture) or have a strict constructionists’ or originalists’ view (one who says the mores of our Founders are to be preserved). I’d have to go with the latter as 53 of the 55 who signed the Declaration of Independence were of the Christian faith – the other two were deists (

In an eternal sense, it doesn’t matter what the Supreme Court (or any man-made court, for that matter) rules. But, in a temporal sense (where we live…in the here and now), it does. What these nine people say have real consequences.”

“Christians? The issue for us is best reflected in the Living Bible’s rendering of Prov. 29:27: ‘The good hate the badness of the wicked. The wicked hate the goodness of the good.’ We don’t hate the homosexual or the transgender…just their detrimental behavior. If more Christians would demonstrate their love and compassion for the person…and not their activities, maybe we’d have a less antagonistic audience.”

Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray:  “Heavenly Father, grant our judges Your wisdom and help them to get on the same page as You; in Jesus’ Name, amen.”
