CLARITY – 11-25-19 Not His Number

A Biblical Response to Current Events – 11-25-19

Not His Number

What’s Happening: “The pilot of a Piper Cub, Thomas Koskovich, 65, crashed his plane into power lines and walked away uninjured Saturday. The strange event happened in Minnesota Saturday afternoon at about 4pm. The high line was shut down and the pilot walked away unscathed. The Shakopee resident was alone on board…and he was totally unhurt ( The Sheriff remarked, ‘“We are grateful the pilot was able to walk away without any injuries.’”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “I guess it just wasn’t his time, huh?”

Biblical Response:  “I guess not. We all have a bucket list, whether actual or just imagined…you know, things you want to do before you die (though flying a plane into power lines is probably on NO ONE’S list). I have no idea what the pilot must have thought when he walked away unharmed, but I know what I’d think: the Lord must have saved me for some purpose. At least that is what I thought after I survived two brainstem strokes and a tornado (you can check out mortality rates on brainstem strokes…its astonishing I survived one [15% is the highest rate of survivability I found for ONE stroke]…to say nothing of the other one a week later…or the tornado!). One thing’s for sure, until it’s time, you won’t go…or stay if it is (Ps. 39:4).”

“Christians? We believe that God has a plan for our lives (Jer. 29:11). Now, we might get in the way of that plan, but He will prevail. How are we to pray? Constantly (Acts 6:4), and fervently (James 5:16).”

Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray:  “Heavenly Father, help us to submit to Your purpose and plan for lives…we are Yours, after all; in Jesus’ Name, amen.”

May I indulge in a little self-promotion? Many of you read CLARITY every day…and you hopefully forward it on to still others. Some even subscribe from the website. Thanks! (one mother wrote that she wanted to subscribe to read it to her children everyday – read away!) However you get CLARITY, would you consider donating on the website? I’m happy to find useful purpose in helping folks stay informed and supplying what I think God has to say on the subjects of the day…still, I want to get this word out to others…which is what I’ll do with your gifts. Thanks in advance.
