CLARITY – 2-18-19 Fickleness

A Biblical Response to Current Events – 2-18-19

What’s Happening: “Maybe Amazon just wants to be wanted; maybe, protesters to Amazon’s decision to build a distribution center in Queens, New York, turning the famous smile logo upside down was an insult too far; maybe it’s the fact that Bezos is against unionization; maybe, since Amazon has not responded to queries concerning its motivations, it means we’ll never know…in any case, the promised billions in tax savings AND the economic boost that the 25,000 jobs would have brought, will now not materialize and Cuomo and De Blasio are happy and sad ( ‘Offering massive corporate welfare from scarce public resources to one of the wealthiest corporations in the world at a time of great need in our state is just wrong,’ said New York State Sen. Michael Gianaris and New York City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer, Democrats.”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “So it’s off, now? Right? … Isn’t that a good thing?”

Biblical Response:  “For now…and maybe it’s not such a good thing. Not only is there the loss of 25,000 jobs, there’s also the loss of the positive economic input they would have brought to local  businesses AND all the taxes those paychecks would have paid. Sometimes, we believe all the hype the MSM puts out and we become the unintended collateral damage.

“Christians? The Scripture says that, ‘fear has torment’ (1 John 4:18) . Fickleness is a byproduct of fear. The Bible warns against that, too (James 1:6-8). Whether Jeff Bezos wanted to bless NY or bless his own company…well, I guess we’ll never know. Probably a little of both.”

Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray:  “Heavenly Father, help us to listen to the voice of Your Spirit. Only then can we truly respond correctly and without fear; in Jesus’ Name, amen.”
