A Biblical Response to Current Events – 5-17-18

A Father Who’ll Come

What’s Happening:  “Perhaps Meghan does not expect her father to attend the wedding, but the 73-year-old who’s attending to urgent health issues will be there in spirit, no doubt (https://www.yahoo.com/news/meghan-markle-confirms-father-wont-attend-royal-wedding-first-official-statement-104951459.html). ‘They [the doctors] will go in and clear blockage, repair damage, and put a stent where it is needed,’ said the elder father-in-law-to-be to Prince Harry.’”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “Every bride should have the privilege of having her father in attendance…couldn’t he have rescheduled?”

Biblical Response:  “Maybe, but I’m not privy to his condition. And it’s a privilege just knowing your child is marrying a royal! There will be much publicity…imagine a 36-year-old American starlet marrying Prince Harry… It’s one for the story books if not for the history books.”

“Christians? Oh, we’re going to a royal wedding alright…and I’m not talking about the nuptials between Meghan and Harry. Being a part of the Bride of Christ (Rev. 19:7), and assigned a royal inheritance (Rom. 8:17), makes us royal…and our Father will be there.”

”Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray:  “Heavenly Father, let us never lose sight of who we are…and Whose we are; in Jesus’ Name, amen.”   © Alan E.Sargent
