Casualties of the Real War

What’s Happening: “Five ‘heroes’ died in the explosion last week in the test facility near Severodvinsk, Russia, 300 miles east of Moscow. The explosion was said to have been connected to the ‘Burevestnik’ missile, an ‘invincible’ cruise-style missile, much touted last year by Vladimir Putin. The Cold War may be heating up and a new arms race might have been ignited since the U.S. and Russia pulled out of the Intermediate Nuclear Forces agreement (INF) (https://www.yahoo.com/news/russians-killed-missile-test-blast-were-working-weapons-154148120.html). ‘The best (thing) for their memory will be our further work on the new weapons. We are fulfilling the task of the motherland, its security will be reliably ensured,’ said Alexei Likhachev to a Russian news agency.”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “Should I be doing ‘duck-and-cover’ drills?”

Biblical Response:  “If it makes your self-deluded self feel better…those drills from the 50s were more for making you feel better about MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction)…as if nuclear war is survivable. The real war you need to worry about is between darkness and light. Thankfully, our side has developed a truly invincible weapon…it’s just not conventional (or strategic). I’m referring to 2 Cor. 10:3-5:

‘…For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh,

for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, …’ (NASU)”

“Christians? We believe that there will be ‘wars, and rumors of wars’ (Matt. 24:6-7), but we also believe that the real war (and it has heroes, too – they’re called martyrs) is not fought with weapons as you usually think of weapons. We must adopt godly ideologies and Word-based faith (Eph . 6:12-18). And we will win (Rev. 20:1-15)!”

Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray:  “Heavenly Father, help us not to get distracted by the world’s battles but fight with earnest the true battle; in Jesus’ Name, amen.”
