CLARITY – 12-6-19 They’re At It…Again!

A Biblical Response to Current Events – 12-6-19

They’re At It…Again!

What’s Happening: “The U.S. Navy (the guided missile destroyer, Forrest Sherman) boarded a small Iranian vessel in the Arabian Sea bound for Houthi rebels in Yemen, and seized advanced missile parts it was announced Wednesday. The U.N. has issued declarations prohibiting such transfers. Although Trump has indicated some reluctance to use U.S. forces in the Middle East, there have been 14,000 additional troops assigned to the region since May ( ‘A more thorough investigation is underway,’ it was stated.”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “They try to smuggle, we interdict…where will it all end?”

Biblical Response:  “Probably in war…some say it has already begun (perhaps a proxy war between Iran and Saudi Arabia?). Both want more influence in the region. And we continue to be the policeman…by default. I agree, it is regrettable, but somebody’s got to do it. Unhindered, Iran’s meddling will only increase terrorism in the region. Time is a multiplier (as Gen Patton said, ‘A good plan, violently executed today, is better than a perfect plan next week.’)…and missile parts bound for terrorists only increase turmoil if not seized…sooner, rather than later. Or, as it is stated in God’s Word: ‘The Day is coming — the timing is God’s…’ (Zech. 14:7 THE MESSAGE). Of course, the prophet was talking about other things, but the principle is sound. Besides, ‘Man proposes, but God disposes.’ ( Prov. 19:21 LB)”

“Is it our job? Probably not. NATO probably should take on this responsibility. They have the most to gain…or lose. Still, better to intercept missile parts now than let them arrive in terrorist’s hands…even if we are the ones who have to seize them.”

“Christians? There is much prayer fodder here…that wisdom will abound…that cooler heads will prevail…that justice will triumph (we know it will in the long term, but we want it in the short term!)”

Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray:  “Heavenly Father, while we know You will provide eventual peace, we need Your wisdom to procure it in the short term; in Jesus’ Name, amen.”

(One mother wrote that she wanted to subscribe to read it to her children everyday – read away!) However you get CLARITY, would you consider donating on the website? I’m happy to find useful purpose in helping folks stay informed and supplying what I think God has to say on the subjects of the day…still, I want to get this word out to others…which is what I’ll do with your gifts. CLARITY – 10-10-19 The Only True Safety

A Biblical Response to Current Events – 10-10-19

The Only True Safety

What’s Happening: “Did the expensive Patriot Missile systems, six of which the Saudis bought from the U.S., fail in the recent attacks on Saudi oil fields? This is the question many are asking…but it has not yet been determined with 100% certainty if the attacks were missiles from Iran or smaller long-distance drones bearing smaller munitions from the Yemeni Houthis  ( ‘Saudi Arabia has been in talks to acquire the same S-400 advanced air-defense system that Turkey recently bought from Russia,’ said Marc Champion for Bloomberg.”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “Why should I care? I mean, the Sept. 14 attack only raised the gas price for about a week.”

Biblical Response:  “If the attacks only temporarily inconvenienced your wallet, you may be of that unthinking uncaring crowd that is behind our nation’s moral slide. There is much at stake here: 1) The people whose lives depend on the safety these devices provide (of course, the only true safety is from the Lord –  Prov. 21:31); 2) The reputation of the manufacturer of the Patriot (Raytheon); 3) The bottom line of U.S. defense contractors vs. Russian manufacturers; etc.”

“Christians? Depending on the contemporary ‘arm of strength,’ whether it’s a sword and shield, a chariot and horse, or a defensive missile…is folly just begging to fail. Safety from God alone is reliable…of course that requires faith. That might be the whole point, anyway.”

Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray:  “Heavenly Father, help us to prepare for the inevitable day of battle, but realize Your skirts are our only true refuge; in Jesus’ Name, amen.”

CLARITY – 10-5-19 Deceptive Lull

A Biblical Response to Current Events – 10-5-19

Deceptive Lull

What’s Happening: “The lack of Iranian action is deafening to some – case in point: Vice Admiral of U.S. Fifth Fleet Jim Malloy. He shared with Reuters there has been a lull in external actions – after the missile strike on Saudi oil fields September 14 – but says he does not take non-response as inactivity.  Although the Iranians have flatly denied involvement (the Iranian-backed Yemeni Houthis have claimed responsibility), the nations of the UK, Germany, the U.S., France and Saudi Arabia state publicly that they blame the attack on Iran. Ever since the U.S. unilaterally pulled out of JCPOA (the ‘nuclear deal’), Tehran has rattled its arms (interdicted shipping through the Straits of Hormuz, etc.) and the U.S. has increased its sanctions on Iranian oil ( ‘I don’t believe that they’re drawing back at all,” Vice Admiral Jim Malloy said.”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “Shouldn’t we be happy when  the headlines are full of impeachment or other domestic issues, rather than the latest Iranian aggression?”

Biblical Response:  “Yes…if it truly means a decline in hostilities…which Vice Admiral Malloy obviously doesn’t.  I’m inclined to believe the expert with the intelligence. Besides, one of the first things you learn in ‘Deception 101’ is to keep a low profile – telegraph inactivity when you are really the most active (Ps. 4:2). We need to be as wise as serpents, gentle as doves (Matt. 10:16).”

“Christians? Unfortunately, we have a reputation for being gullible. However, people should not mistake our optimism for turning a blind eye to reality. While we want to believe the best about people, we are not naive to the wiles of the devil. He wants us to let down our guard…but it’s not happening!”

Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray:  “Heavenly Father, help us to operate in reality, not become the victims of clever deception; in Jesus’ Name, amen.”
