A Biblical Response to Current Events – 6-28-18
Stranger Things Have Happened…But Not Much!
What’s Happening: “D.C. and the nation are all abuzz with the retirement of Justice Kennedy from SCOTUS, the possible replacement by Kavanaugh…or Lee…or Fox Commentator, Judge Jeanine (just kidding?). Regardless of the pick, the nature of the court is likely to change (https://www.yahoo.com/news/appellate-judge-d-c-circuit-seen-early-favorite-trumps-supreme-court-shortlist-203121934.html). ‘Donald Trump Jr. retweeted a post about her as a possible nominee, adding ‘This would be pretty awesome,’ but with emoticons suggesting he meant it as a joke, ’ says an article by Chris Wilson of Yahoo News.”
Knee-Jerk Response: “Didn’t the Republicans want Obama to wait until after the election to replace Scalia? Aren’t we also coming up on an election?”
Biblical Response: “Yes, but this is a midterm election, not a Presidential one. Besides, with as many Democratic Senators as are up for re-election in states carried by Trump (many by double digits), there is not likely to be a change in the confirmation results. No doubt, if the President sticks with the 25 from which Gorsuch was chosen (and he said he would), the next justice is likely to make the court more conservative. In the tasty words of Barack Hussein Obama, ‘Elections have consequences.’ I’m sorry if my gloat is showing.”
“Christians? 56 million souls (roughly the number of abortions since Roe v. Wade) cry out for change (John 10:10).”
Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray: “Heavenly Father, help President Trump to choose wisely and our Senate to sound off resolutely; in Jesus’ Name, amen.”
