CLARITY – 4-4-20 Now We Know

4A Biblical Response to Current Events – 4-4-20

Now We Know

What’s Happening: “Republican Senator Martha McSally (R – AZ) accused WHO (World Health Organization) head Thursday of being a Communist and allowing his belief to help China hide it’s complicity in the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. She said that Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was downplaying the Chinese government’s role in misreporting numbers and said that his actions were causing the global response to the crisis to come late or be less serious (   ‘I think Dr. Tedros needs to step down,’ McSally said. ‘We need to take some action to address this issue. It’s just irresponsible, it’s unconscionable what they have done here while we have people dying across the globe.’”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “So he leans this way or that. So what? Isn’t a man entitled to his own opinion?”

Biblical Response:  “Yes…but not his own facts. And, his position as the head of the WHO matters greatly. What he says will be taken for truth…whether it is, or is not. That’s ‘so what!’ His beliefs are reflected by what he says (Matt. 12:34; Prov. 23:7). I agree with McSally. Asking him to change or be quiet is like asking a leopard to change his spots. Not going to happen. He needs to step down. Recusing himself is no option, either. If he cannot speak to the COVID-19 crisis, for what reason does he have his position?”

We often operate under a myth: that you can keep separate your private life – what you believe, what you do when you think nobody is watching, how you treat those you love, etc. – from your public life. It’s just not possible! What you believe will always spill over into speech and action. Besides, God is with you in the closet, anyway (Ps. 139).”

“Christians? We believe we are, in the final analysis, no better at hiding from Man than we are at hiding from God. The truth will always out (the scriptures above and Prov. 12:19).”

Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray:  “Heavenly Father, help us deal openly and honestly with You…others…and ourselves; in Jesus’ Name, amen.”

CLARITY – 5-21-19 The Myth of Stealth

A Biblical Response to Current Events -5-21-19

The Myth of Stealth

What’s Happening: “It might have been a revelation to the Air Force or those marketing the ‘stealth’ F-22s, that the Chinese have claimed to be tracking them on radar for quite some time, but it does not come to some as news. Of course, if you read the entire article in the link it gets pretty technical. Some think it doesn’t matter – that nothing can be done about it anyway ( One U.S. Navy officer  asked, ‘Does the mission require a cloaking device or is it OK if the threat sees it but can’t do anything about it?’”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “Stealth matters! It’s hard to destroy what you can’t see.”

Biblical Response:  “True. However, it’s a good thing God sees all…there sure needs to be some destruction going on in my life. I’ve been a Christian for almost 50 years…and I still have some areas that need work. As far as weapons systems and technology are concerned, someone will always one-up the latest development. Remember, there is nothing new under the sun (Eccl. 1:9). Whether in proprietary war technology, or the latest new-fangled innovation, there will always be another radar detector that will defeat the latest speed-gun available. Does that mean that we shouldn’t pursue the latest tech? No. Just that we shouldn’t have unreasonable expectations. Nothing on this earth lasts forever (1 Cor. 15:53).”

“Christians? The myth of stealth is true (or it soon will be). However, there is also the myth of the closet. Many are thinking (and depending) on the belief that what is done privately ‘in the closet’ is seen by no one. Nothing could be further from the truth. God was in the closet with you all along (read Ps. 139).”

Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray:  “Heavenly Father, help us to be one step (at least) ahead of our enemies, but help us only to depend on You; in Jesus’ Name, amen.”
