A Biblical Response to Current Events – 12-7-18
Making the Naughty List
What’s Happening: “Nikki Haley, as U. S. Ambassador to the U.N., proposed an official resolution of condemnation of the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas yesterday…and it failed to get the ⅔ majority required. She may be leaving her post at year’s end, but you can rest assured that the U.S. (and Israel) is taking note of who supported the resolution and who did not (https://www.yahoo.com/news/u-fails-win-enough-support-u-n-condemn-234533621.html). Hamas has lobbed dozens of missiles at Israel lately. ‘Before the General Assembly can credibly advocate compromise and reconciliation between the Palestinians and Israel, it must on record, unambiguously and unconditionally, condemn Hamas terrorism,’ Haley said.”
Knee-Jerk Response: “Once again the U.N. proves its irrelevancy.”
Biblical Response: “Yep…but it had help (Kuwait proposed a resolution that made the condemnation measure a ⅔ vote, instead of a simple majority). Of course, Israel would object, and nobody fears loss when it votes against it…but the U.S. might not give as much or any largesse to those who voted against them: a threat that could really mean something.”
“Christians? We are against any violence (Heb. 12:14) that is random and kills innocents. The Palestinians might argue that all Israelis are guilty of prejudice against them. That’s like the frog telling the leaf it is green (the political correctness police accuse those who use a more familiar phrase of racism); they call for the destruction of Israel. Forget the US., it’s not a good idea to get on God’s bad side,”
Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray: “Heavenly Father, let us never get weary of doing what is right…or condemning those who do wrong; in Jesus’ Name, amen.”
