CLARITY – 7-17-18 Controlling the Narrative

CLARITY

A Biblical Response to Current Events – 7-17-18

Controlling the Narrative

What’s Happening:  “The news is abuzz about what Trump said about our intelligence services…that he believes Putin over them…that he believes maybe Russia didn’t meddle in the the 2016 election…that his ego is so big that he couldn’t see past the ‘witch hunt’ of the Mueller probe and even doubted the indictment of the twelve Russian spies…and that’s the conservatives (https://www.dailywire.com/news/33123/trump-slams-his-own-intelligence-agencies-insists-ben-shapiro?utm_source=cnemail&utm_medium=email&utm_content=071718-news&utm_campaign=position1). But perhaps he’s just taking a cue from the liberal playbook and controlling the narrative. Even conservative Allen West tweeted: ‘There are those who say you do not go into such a summit to embarrass, or confront. I say you do not sit with the devil and offer him something cool to drink.’ Perhaps a better saying is: You don’t confront a snake about the viciousness of his bite!’”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “Dumb like a fox?”

Biblical Response:  “Yeah…kind of. I mean, you know what the liberals are going to say…whatever you say they are going to find fault with it. And you know how everyone believes (including Putin) about the size of your ego…say something that will give Putin pause. If you want to charm a tyrannical despot (or a snake), you can’t start by making accusations, however true they may be. Again…controlling the narrative..”

“Christians? Controlling the narrative is what the Sermon on the Mount was all about (Matt. 5-7). Read how many times Jesus said what was written in the law, then went on to say ‘But I say…’ or started his edicts with a ‘But…’ (Matt. 5:32,37,39,44; 6;3,6,7,15,17,23, 27, 33). I’m not saying President Trump is so wise or does not have a huge ego, I’m just say that controlling the narrative determines the direction of conversation…you attract more bees with sugar than with vinegar.”

Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray:  “Heavenly Father, help us to gain victory over the enemy by being wise as serpents and gentle as doves (Matt. 10:16); in Jesus’ Name, amen.”

CLARITY – 7-14-18 AND Stick

CLARITY

A Biblical Response to Current Events – 7-14-18

AND Stick

What’s Happening:  “Let’s see, President Trump has told NATO they need to stop immigrating so many disaffected people and contribute more to defense, met with U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May and hinted he was not too pleased with her visions of implementing Brexit, has pledged to spend on our military over $700 Billion this year (and over $700 Billion next), and is scheduled to meet in Helsinki with Vladimir Putin…sounds like he believes strength is the best negotiating position (https://www.yahoo.com/news/whats-stake-trumps-summit-putin-215539617.html). ‘If I were still secretary of Defense, I would have urged President Trump not to even hold the summit at this time,…’, said former Secretary of Defense William Cohen.”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “It’s a dangerous game.”

Biblical Response:  “In fact, it’s no game at all. This is serious stuff, but I’d much rather not exclusively use the carrot…all the benefits peace with us might engender them…but also the stick…what will happen if you don’t. We,ve already expelled some diplomats (over Russia’s use of nerve agents in the U.K.), indicted 12 Russian spies (for election meddling, offered Germany the option of buying their natural gas from us (rather than Russia), put trade tariffs on the Chinese, and peace with North Korea might be imminent. Sounds like President Trump believes in the old apothegm: “Fear of loss is a greater motivator than hope of gain.”

“Christians? Sounds peculiarly like that scripture in Proverbs: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” (Prov. 9:10) Of course, the fear of Trump is miniscule (or it should be) when compared with God. But it’s a cinch strength is more riveting than weakness.”

Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray:  “Heavenly Father, help our leaders to use time-tested biblical principle when negotiating with our allies and adversaries; in Jesus’ Name, amen.”

CLARITY – 6-4-18 Good News or Bad

CLARITY

A Biblical Response to Current Events – 6-4-18

Good News or Bad

What’s Happening:  “It’s anybody’s guess ,really, the replacement of the DPRK’s top military brass…is it good news or bad? Analysts say that this gives Kim Jong-un more control of the  Korean People’s Army (KPA), preparing for the summit with Trump by surrounding himself with more like-minded leaders. If Kim really intends denuclearization, this might be good news. If he intends to keep North Korea on its historic path of deception and promises made, but not kept, it’s bad. The South thinks it’s good, but someone with “no dog in the hunt” needs to be heard (https://www.yahoo.com/news/north-korea-shakes-military-leadership-ahead-trump-summit-033547734.html). ‘If Kim Jong Un is set on making peace with the U.S. and South Korea and dealing away at least part of the nuclear program, he will have to put the KPA’s influence in a box and keep it there,’ said the director of the International Affairs Group, Ken Gause.’”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “Surely, it doesn’t matter much….this summit.”

Biblical Response:  “Not unless you mind the first truly nuclear war! What’s at stake is more serious than anyone can possibly imagine…it’s certainly nothing to yawn at. While I do understand the obvious advantage of approaching peace from a position of strength (thank you, Mr. Trump), I want someone in our delegation in Singapore that has nothing to prove (thank you, Mike Pompeo).”

“Christians? Oh we believe in Good News (this gives us hope)…and know the repercussions of bad news (Read Rom. 7 sometime). What we need June 12 is good news… ‘Good news from far away is like cold water to the thirsty.’ (Prov. 25:25) Yep. That just about sums it up.”

CLARITY – 5-31-18 Still Offered

CLARITY

A Biblical Response to Current Events – 5-31-18

Still Offered

What’s Happening:  “Kim Yong Chol, the chairman of the ruling Worker’s Party in North Korea, met with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in New York yesterday, and as such, became the highest ranking DPRK official ever to go to the U.S. They are seeing if the proposed summit between Kim Jong-un and Trump, originally planned for June 12 in Singapore, could still be held (https://www.yahoo.com/news/mike-pompeo-ramps-pressure-north-094842120.html). ‘Between now and if we’re going to have a summit, they’re going to have to make clear what they’re willing to do,’ a State Department official said.”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “Is the only alternative nuclear war?”

Biblical Response:  “No, there is also conventional war…and then there is also the same “strategic patience” of the past that is only a delaying tactic for them to increase their nuclear arsenal to the point where they are a real threat – not just to us, but the region and then world. Hopefully, the DPRK will join the rest of the world and realize the nuclear-war option is unthinkable. Maybe the summit will still go on…at least we should so pray.”

“Christians? Thankfully, the peace with God (which is even more desirable than peace here on earth) is still being offered. ..and until we die remains “on the table” (Acts 2:39).”

”Here’s a Prayer You Can Pray:  “Heavenly Father, help us to recognize that peace with You has an expiration date, too; in Jesus’ Name, amen.”   © Alan E.Sargent

Correction:   Yesterday’s CLARITY (Final Justice) reported an assassination of a Russian journalist in Kiev, Ukraine. It now turns out all this was staged as a sting operation by the local police to catch the intended assassin before he could carry out his contracted killing. No one knew of the operation outside of a few. Even Babchenko’s wife did not know at the time. I repeat, Arkady Babchenko is ALIVE! CLARITY – 5-25-18 Continuance

CLARITY

A Biblical Response to Current Events – 5-25-18

Continuance

What’s Happening:  “Trump cancelled the historic summit in Singapore scheduled for June 12 with DPRK leader Kim Jong-un because of a threat from Kim of nuclear war. Still, he said the meeting could be held later if tensions subsided (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/05/24/trump-says-north-korea-summit-still-possible-after-pullout-but-warns-us-military-ready-if-necessary.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+foxnews%2Fpolitics+%28Internal+-+Politics+-+Text%29). ‘Nobody should be anxious. We have to get it right,’ Trump is reported to have said.”

Knee-Jerk Response:  “Why don’t we just nuke ‘em? We’ll win any conflict, right?”

Biblical Response:  “It’s not that simple. In the first place, thousands of innocent Koreans would die…in the North…and in the South. Secondly, so might a lot of innocent American soldiers’ families (there are 28,500 soldiers stationed in South Korea). Thirdly, how about the Japanese? Then there’s the possibility of China taking North Korea’s part. Need I go on? I’m as ready as the next guy for denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. Let’s just get it right. Give the ‘maximum pressure’ campaign a chance. A few months of sanctions will convince them of our solidarity…IF everyone (including China) will get on board.”

“Christians? I think patience is a fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23). Surely, we can demonstrate a little of that can’t we?”
